Through Sept 12: Brain Teasers 2; North Museum of Natural History. Gain a new appreciation for your brain and what it can do with Brain Teasers 2, a nationally traveling exhibit at the North Museum this summer. This exhibit, produced and toured by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, offers 21 challenges for puzzle enthusiasts of all ages and is designed to sharpen problem-solving skills and provide plenty of fun at the same time. Brain twisters include unraveling mathematical conundrums, separating linked objects and reassembling them, arranging geometric shapes to form new ones and much more. To solve these puzzles, you must use creative thinking and program solving strategies by looking at problems from different perspectives. This brightly colored exhibit appeals to visitors of all ages and encourages parent-child interaction as families can team up to solve the brain teasers. Through April 30, 2011: James Bond Watches; National Watch & Clock Museum. The exhibit brings together models of wristwatches worn by the character James Bond in print and on film. The highlight of the exhibit is the partnering of Ian Fleming’s Rolex Explorer with his original manuscripts. This will be the first time that Mr. Fleming’s watch has been exhibited in the United States and the first time the watch has been together with the manuscripts since worn by Mr. Fleming himself! Grand Complications: Art of the Watchmaker examines how the production of timepieces has always combined technical skill of the maker with a visual elegance. Author Genevieve Cummins will be delivering a lecture presentation on the topic of watch equippage as part of the NAWCC National Convention special programming.
